Experience the process of working with the solvent-free, luminous colors of encaustic; ideal for beginners.
All Levels

Encaustic is a luminous medium that is made up of molten beeswax, pigment and resin. Techniques of melting and fusing the wax, making clean lines and edges, and methods of texture, and collage will be demonstrated and discussed. Encaustic is ideal for working abstractly or in a more representational style.  Small wooden panels (4x5”) for each of the techniques demonstrated will be provided. Bring  panels up to 9x12 inches for larger work. Equipment, paint, medium, brushes and tools are supplied

 Combine your photography with the translucent character of encaustic paint.

Learn to incorporate your images and encaustic onto a panel as collage or by attaching the image directly onto a panel as a basis for further work. Emphasis is given to choosing the right image for this process, along with layering, and surface embellishments only possible with encaustic.
