A complex web of connections are made through the layering of patterns and colors as the transparency of encaustic reveals a history of the work’s development. Participants work with a variety of techniques using photographs, botanical materials, and transparent and opaque colors. Demonstrations will be followed with time to experiment and improvise. Participants may choose the techniques which appeal to them or try all. Participants with experience in encaustic should bring in some pieces to continue to work on. All students emerge with a range of skills to deepen the direction of their work and the confidence to create using their new abilities
